District Council Update

Housing news.

Derbyshire Dales Councillors unanimously agreed an affordable housing delivery plan for the entire district last week. More than 1200 new ‘affordable’ are to be built in an area stretching from Bradwell to Brailsford over the next few years.

Homes England described it as one of the best housing delivery plans they have seen. Super work by the team!

Tideswell Community Land Trust have been our partner locally and together we intend to deliver 30 new affordable homes to tackle Tideswell and Litton’s ‘local housing need’, park planning permitting.

Tideswell and District Community Land Trust Update

Have you seen the Tideswell and District Community Land Trust website? It tells you about the TDCLT, and provides links to the results of last year’s Housing Needs Survey. The website address is https://tideswellclt.org/

If you want to sign up as a member of the TDCLT, go to the Documents page on the website, download the membership form and follow the instructions on there. We’re a community-owned organisation, so members pay a one-off £1 to become a member and this gives members the right to vote at the AGM. Thanks to all of you who have already signed up!

The TDCLT continue to work with DDDC to identify a solution to address the housing need in Tideswell and Litton through a scheme of affordable housing. A scheme for thirty dwellings is currently being designed by a developer which, when ready, will go through the usual planning consultation process. We’ll update everyone again as soon as there is more news to share.

Any housing developed will be managed by a Housing Association and subject to the Peak District National Park “10 year connection” clause which applies to all social housing which has been built since 2006/7. This means that people have to demonstrate a connection to the Parish (or an adjoining Parish) for 10 years out of the last 20 years, or be moving to the Parish to care for a relative who meets the “10 year connection” criteria.
