Tideswell Community Hall Solar Panels & Battery System

Tideswell Community Hall has recently been successful in acquiring a grant for the installation of solar panels and a battery system at the hall. Eighty percent of the cost for the installation was obtained through the Derbyshire Dales UKSPF Community Resilience Grant Scheme. This is administered by Derbyshire Dales Council for Voluntary Service and is a government funded scheme.

The solar panels and battery storage will significantly lower the demand for electricity from the grid to run the air source heat pump and under floor heating system. The building is well insulated so this also reduces the running costs and supports sustainability.

The savings on energy, made by installing the solar panels, will enable the committee to continue to offer reasonable hire rates for the facility into the future; especially for community-based events.

The installation was undertaken by a local company – Smart Homes Electrical who are based in Tansley.
