The superb TIDESWELL MALE VOICE CHOIR was extremely popular – being regarded by many as the Premier Male Voice Choir in the Peak District. Who can forget the numerous standing ovations at the Buxton Opera House with Stars such as Aled Jones, Russell Watson, Military Wives etc, the fabulous Open-Air Concerts at Gawsworth Hall, Fun at the Fringe, Christmas at the Palace etc. It was indeed a very sad day when the TIDESWELL MALE VOICE CHOIR closed down.
A number of ex-members of Tideswell however joined the Dore Male Voice Choir situated just a few miles away in Sheffield – on the Edge of the Peak District. The Dore Choir now has more than 70 members and is going from strength to strength. Members come from far and near – several from the Peak District (including Tideswell!) and some even from as far as Doncaster The music repertoire covers the whole music spectrum from Opera, Musicals, Sacred, Spirituals, Folk Songs, Jazz & Recent
Success has been gained over the years from numerous Musical Festivals both at Home and Abroad (including the World Famous Llangollen International Eisteddfod).
The Choir has sung at many prestigious Venues such as St Peter’s in the Vatican, St Mark’s Basilica in Venice, The Royal Albert Hall, The London Guildhall, York Minster, the Menin Gate and many more. It has also featured on BBC TV and Radio.
As a Registered Charity the Choir has been privileged in raising thousands of pounds for numerous Charities. Last year was the 60th Anniversary of the Choir.
Two concerts in this year’s programme will be in BAKEWELL – both at the Town Hall so maybe you will be able to go to at least one of them
