Prepare for a night of laughter, suspense, and plenty of surprises as Tideswell Community Players presents Agatha and the Village Hall Murders, a delightful comedy by Derek Webb. This quirky and hilarious play will be performed at St John’s Institute (behind the church) at 7:30pm on 24th, 25th and 26th April (when a 2pm matinee also planned). It’s set to leave the audience highly amused to start the village theatre group’s 95th year!
The story follows Agatha, a sharp-witted crime writer who gets caught up in a string of comical murders in Chortleby, a small English village. With a mix of eccentric characters, clever dialogue, and a series of absurd situations, the play delivers all the charm of a classic murder mystery, with a very light-hearted twist. It’s the perfect blend of intrigue and humour for all ages, very fitting for the first TCP production in several years.
With almost entirely new people involved in the play, talent from Tideswell takes centre stage, with local folk bringing the quirky characters to life. From the bumbling detective to the suspiciously odd villagers, you’ll recognise some of your neighbours in dramatic roles. The show promises to be a fun-filled evening that will have you laughing and guessing until the final curtain call.
And what’s a night at the theatre without a little light refreshment? Wine, beer and soft drinks will be sold. You can have a drink before the show and even pre-order your drinks at in readiness for the interval (or order online with your tickets). No need to queue then – just relax and enjoy your refreshments!
