Tideswell Cinema has already shown thirteen films this season, with two more for this month. On Thursday 16th we will be showing the rescheduled Iranian film ‘The Salesman’, winner of the 2017 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. And then on Wednesday 29th (not on 30th as printed in our programme) our season finale is that wonderful 1979 Monty Python satirical comedy, ‘Life of Brian’. Both will be shown upstairs in The George at 7.30 p.m., and guest members are welcome (£4).
The 2018 /19 season runs from September to August, with a film each month plus three Double Bill events. Membership is £25, and for this you get free entry to all films, along with a week’s priority booking for Live Screenings from the National Theatre, Royal Opera House and Royal Shakespeare Company. We are currently renewing our membership list, and if you are interested in joining, please email mail@tidewellcinema.com. Our first event is on Saturday 8th September with a Double Bill and meal, featuring the recent epic film ‘Dunkirk’, followed by the delightful ‘The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society’ starring Lily James as a writer who in the aftermath of World War Two visits Guernsey to explore the islanders’ experiences under Nazi occupation. The booking form will be available on our website (www.tideswellcinema.com) in the middle of the month, but you are welcome to express your interest by emailing, as above.
