Many of you will have experience of the Posada from the last two Christmas’. For those of you who are new to the idea it is South American tradition in the Christmas season in which Mary and Joseph journey from house to house looking for a place to stay.
This year again we will celebrate the journeys of Mary and Joseph from Nazareth to Bethlehem, and of the Wise Men following a star (both passing through Tideswell!). Their journey begins on 3rd December and they must find a place to stay every night until they reach Bethlehem and hopefully a bed in one last inn (posada in Spanish).
The figures are designed and made by local artist Fiona Rogers (on wood blocks by David Longden). If you would like to host the figures for a night please phone Thelma Burrell on 01298 871796, alternatively you can look out for them in homes, shops and other locations throughout December.
Help them start their journey on Advent Sunday at a special service in Tideswell Parish Church, starting at 6pm. A list of locations and dates will be posted outside each of our local churches; or pick up a copy from the porch at St. John’s in Tideswell.
The journeys will end on Christmas Morning at 10am at the Village Christmas Family Service, this year in the Parish Church. We hope you can be there to celebrate their home coming and see photos of their journey.
