Ever fancied having a go at the Dashing White Sergeant? Or Pride of Erin? Or an eightsome reel? Then go and get your ticket for Ceilidh Night at the Institute on Friday, 20 October.
A ceilidh (say cay-lee) is a Scottish or Irish social event with music and dancing. Tideswell Bellringers are organising this one as a fundraising event for the Tideswell bell fund; hosted by Scottish musician and caller Barbara-Ann Wilson, it promises exciting live music, the chance to have go at some very special dances, and delicious refreshment snacks including haggis bites, Dundee cake and cranachan (look it up!). And if you don’t trust your feet or natural sense of rhythm, you’ll get almost as much fun watching everyone else having a go.
Admission will be by ticket only, which go on sale at £10 each at Peak Volumes bookshop (*next to Tideswell Post Office*) and Litton Shop from 30 September; take the opportunity to explore Tim’s huge second-hand book stock or try a slice of home-made cake in Litton. Ticket numbers are limited, and we’re expecting to sell out, so don’t leave it too late to book.
