As the 2017/18 season begins this month, Tideswell Cinema will again be showing a film every month of the year, with at least two of our popular Double Bills with a Meal, and our special Oscar Night. Membership of £25 will bring free entry to all (a minimum of 17) films, as well as one week’s priority booking for our Live Screenings, and we still have some places for new members (email tideswellcinema@gmail.com).
We launch the season on Saturday 9th September with a Double Bill and Meal, featuring the fabulous Dustin Hoffman with two of his best loved films, ‘Midnight Cowboy’ and ‘Tootsie’. The George Inn provides us with a great choice of meals (£12) which we have between films, and they are always very enjoyable occasions.
The film of the month will be shown as usual upstairs at the George on Thursday 28th of September at 7.30 p.m., and all are welcome to come along (£4 for guest members). We have chosen ‘La La Land’ , the musical drama that featured so prominently at this year’s Oscars. Starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, this magical old-style romance traces the fortunes of aspiring actress Mia, and ambitious jazz musician Sebastian, as their dreams of success begin to come to fruition – along with the problems that soon unfold. It is described as ‘a boost of sunshine’, and unless we have a sunny September, we might all be ready for that!
