The 17th Annual General Meeting of what is Derbyshire’s oldest community shop took place in the village hall on a very windy Friday , 17th of March.
The Committee reported a good year for the shop with takings being helped by a better summer and the temporary closure of Tideswell Co-op for refurbishment. This additional income was used to refurbish the shop, purchase new equipment and provide for some external repairs to be undertaken.
An update was given on the effect of the shop’s performance following the installation in 2015 of Solar Panels. To date the shop has benefited to the tune of over £1000 by reducing its electric bill and receiving Feed in Tariffs. This together with our electricity supplier sourcing over 90% of its power from low carbon resources is helping us to maintain our “green“ aims.
The committee would like to thank all those staff, volunteers (all 25 of them!) and principally the customers who help to make this community-owned enterprise a success.
