Litton Parish Matters

This month sees the end of the growing season and of the first year of the new grass cutting contract and handy person contract. The grass cutting contract got off to a poor start in April but since late May the Council consider the grass has been cut very well and a number of residents have made favourable comments. The handy person has worked well and there has been a clear improvement in a number of areas and especially the cemetery.

The Council recognizes that the handy person needs to spend more time on some areas such as the planted area on Cressbrook Green and in the playground and has increased her hours accordingly. If you have any comments on areas where you think the maintenance is satisfactory or good or where you think improvements are needed please let the Parish Clerk know on littonparishcouncil@gmail.com. Your comments are important because the Council wish to keep on improving the contract specification from year to year.

There are two vacancies on the Parish Council and of particular concern is the absence of a councillor from Cressbrook. It is not necessary for each village to be represented but the Council believes it is important that it draws councillors from across the parish. Although the Council keep in contact with residents in Cressbrook and always welcome representation from the village it is not the same as having someone who knows the village and its residents and can speak from their perspective. If you are interested in joining the Council please talk to a councillor or contact the Clerk.

Warm regards John Evans ( Vice – Chair )
