Friday 18th November 2016 “Brooklyn” (cert 12, 107mins) Saoirse Ronan and Domhnall Gleeson star in this old-fashioned romantic drama adapted from the novel by Colm Tóibín. Set in the 1950s, the story follows young Irish woman Ellis Lacey (Ronan) as she travels to New York City for a better life.
Initially homesick, she adjusts to her new surroundings helped by Italian-American Tony Fiorello (Emory Cohen) and becomes romantically involved. Receiving news of a family crisis, Ellis returns to Ireland and meets Jim Farrell (Gleeson) – and finds herself torn between two very different lives.
The cast also includes Jim Broadbent and Julie Walters. The film was nominated for three Academy Awards including Best Picture and won the BAFTA Award for Best British Film. As fans know we have a wide cinema screen, high quality sound, really comfy seats, doors open 7.30 for 8pm and the bar will be open for refreshments before and after the film.
