CRUNCH TIME

For a few years now Tideswell & District Community Association has struggled to find enough active committee members to enable us to do all the things, large and small, that help make Tideswell such a great place to live in or visit.

It has now reached the stage that, if we do not get more active members we will have to seriously, and regretfully, consider winding up the Association.

So much of what we do is in the background of village life but, if the Association folds, several major things will change –

1. The Association holds the leases for the entire sports complex – without the Association there will not be leases in place for sporting groups and the school to continue to use the complex.

2. The annual bonfire and firework display, which is so popular particularly with the children, will not take place.

3. Many local clubs and associations who we have helped financially will not have anyone to ask for financial help with new or specific projects – e.g. Purchase of a defibrillator, new uniforms for the band, a donation to the Afternoon Tea Club and mats for the new Jujitsu club to name just a few which have helped all ages.

4. Things like the flower troughs and the hanging basket competition will not happen to brighten up the village

5. The 200 Club, which provides many happy winners each month and provides funds for donations and the fireworks, will no longer continue.

These and many more ‘unsung’ things will just not happen.

Joining our friendly committee does NOT mean hours of boring meetings or giving up lots of your precious time. We meet every two months and the meetings are neither long nor tedious. All the things that we do are good fun and very worthwhile – the more committee members we have the lighter everyone’s load will be and the more we can do.

We only need a few more members to join us to ensure that we can continue and hopefully with fresh people come fresh ideas enabling us to go from strength to strength.

Our AGM will be on Weds. 25th May – 7.00 – Fountain Street Church Vestry.

Please come to the AGM and give us your support. If there is insufficient interest on the night then it may sadly be ‘CRUNCH TIME’

If you have any questions or would like to know more before the AGM then please don’t hesitate to telephone Alan Brignell (871893) or Sandra Howard (872167) – we will be happy to help.
