Demolition of TYC will commence in the near future. Ideally it will be replaced with a new stone building for community use. However this is very much subject to the long term renewal of our lease with DCC. At the moment DCC are appraising the site and a decision is not expected for a couple of months. In the interim period we intend to lobby our County Councillor (Simon Spencer) and ask that villagers with a potential interest in a new purpose- built community facility do likewise. It would be great if young people made contact through the council’s young person’s web site ‘Council’s YouthInc’ or email youngpeople@derbyshire.gov.uk <mailto:youngpeople@derbyshire.gov.uk> where according to the site ‘young people can make their voices heard’ !
We do not want to lose this very valuable community facility which has always been available for use by all but has especially served the young people of Tideswell , (playgroup, cubs, scouts and band) well for many years. Please support us in any way you can and let DCC know this is a much needed and valuable community resource which has huge potential as a venue for clubs/societies and social gatherings.
