Dear Cllr Bower
I was horrified to discover that the above facility has been removed, where was the local consultation? I see that from DDDC website that these facilities have been closed in many other villages and towns across the DDDC area. The statement says that success in recent years in kerbside domestic refuse collections has been so good that local recycle banks are no longer needed.
Frankly (no pun intended) this is is total rubbish! Why did you not arrange for proper local consultation to take place? You could have done this at both District and Parish level. Further more you could have at least given notice of closure via our local “Village Voice” monthly newsletter, I’m sure that would have been of great local interest.
In my opinion, the removal of our recycle bank is bad news, I’m sure we are going to see rubbish just dumped in the streets and over hedgerows etc. In the last election I voted for you as District Cllr on the basis that you would fairly represent our community, stand up for our services, consult and communicate. I note that your role on our Parish Council was not elected due to lack of other contenders.
I would appreciate your feedback on my comments.
