Testament of Youth (cert 12, 130 mins)
A story of love, war and remembrance based on the First World War memoir by Vera Brittain. Intelligent and free-minded Vera overcomes the prejudices of her family and her then snobby hometown of Buxton to win a scholarship to Oxford. WW1 is looming and Vera volunteers as a nurse and experiences all the griefs of war as her fiancé, brother and their closest friends are all killed. But Vera endures and returns to Oxford after the war, irrevocably changed and determined to find a new purpose in her life.
