The Big Band sound of SLIDE reverberated around St John’s Church on 11th July, as this fantastic group of over twenty youngsters from St Bede’s School, Redhill, once again came to the village to share their talent. With saxaphones (all sorts of them), clarinet, drums, trumpets and a whole array of instruments, they gave us the most fabulous evening. It is the fourth time they have been to Tideswell during a July, so hopefully we can enjoy them again next year. Remember the name – SLIDE – it really is something not to miss.
This was just one evening of many when we can be entertained right on our doorstep. Look out for the upcoming Tideswell Arts Festival, when there will be a full and exciting concert from our own Tideswell Band on Friday 18th September, followed on Saturday 19th by concert pianist Christopher Ellis. Since graduating from the Royal Academy of Music, Christopher has performed across Europe, wowing audiences with his passion and skill. Now it is our turn! (Both performances will take place in St John’s Church.)
