The box at the back of St John the Baptist church for donations of food and toiletries keeps filling up, for which the Buxton Food Bank remains grateful. You may have read in Village Voice that they also have a Work and Skills programme, helping and supporting unemployed people to get into jobs. It is encouraging to hear how they have been able to help a number of individuals, now in regular employment, and also to offer support to people who have difficulties for a variety of reasons with the Job Centre. So it isn’t just about emergency handouts – it’s much, much more.
