Madge’s March.

At the March meeting local woman Jane Marsden talked about her walk from Land’s End to John O’Groats.
She, her husband, and working collie dog Madge planned the route well in advance. They each chose a charity: Helen’s Trust, the Derbyshire charity for terminally ill people who wish to stay at home was Jane’s choice, Help for Heroes was her husband’s… and Madge chose Mountain Rescue Dogs! They called the walk Madge’s March.
The walk was varied and in the months they took, they had only 7 days of bad weather. They tested the saying that “Spring moves North at walking pace” and found that it was TRUE. The spring daffodils which they met at Cornwall were replicated at the end of their journey.
Jane described her walk, and answered questions from the audience. Local farmer Mavis Mycock, who is also the club’s treasurer, gave the vote of thanks. The club has given a donation to Jane’s charities. Madge’s March funds, which are still rolling in, now total over £15,000.Well done!
