Tideswell sits gripped by a good dollop of snow, as I write this, a fabulous mix pretty white stuff and treacherous driving for most of us – why is that there seems to be be more 4*4s on the road when it snows; do people keep them in the garage until the first drops fall?

John Evans in his offering from Litton Parish Council reminds us, that it’s election year for not only our national and local politicians but for our parish councils too.

Being a councillor is a non-political role. The role of a parish councillor is to oversee the smooth and efficient running of the parish and to actively work to improve it for the rest of us. Details of how to stand for election will be announced nearer the time but in the meantime, do ask a councillor what the role entails.

Wouldn’t it be fabulous if we had more candidates than council places this year.
