Miller’s Dale and District W. I. met at Litton Village Hall for their usual monthly meeting on Wednesday 8th. October 2014; this get-together was very well attended. Members were reminded that the Group Meeting was being held on Monday 13th. October. Midnight in Paris was the film to be shown and pop corn and ice cream would be available.
The Autumn Federation meeting had been held at Derby Cricket Ground on the 7th. October; our delegate had attended and reported back that Miller’s Dale W.I had been congratulated for their bulb order, which helps The Derbyshire Federation to earn commission. The speakers were Angela Baker – from The Calendar Girls and Michael Portillo. Both speakers had given excellent talks.
Judy then introduced our speaker, Annie Whitehill, who told us about the ‘Appalachian Dance’. She gave a brief history of the dance, and then a short demonstration. She encouraged us to join in with the rest of her group! It was great fun for both the participants and the audience.
The next monthly meeting is the annual meeting and will be held in Litton Village Hall on Wednesday the 12th. November 2014.
