Miller’s Dale & District W I met for their usual monthly meeting at Litton Village Hall on Wednesday 9th. July. The meeting was full with only a few members away. Our Speaker was Mrs Gill Sprakes and she entitled her talk “From Sheep to Shawl”.
She gave a most interesting talk about her love for wool sheared from rare breeds of sheep and spinning it to make a variety of articles. She had a lovely display of her work We all really enjoyed and appreciated her visit.
We then continued with refreshments and after these we continued with our Business Meeting. Some Members from our WI had done the refreshments for Litton’s W W1 Commemoration and these had been a great success. Final arrangements were made for our visit to Shardlow in July and Feeley Priory in August. Members were reminded of The Autumn Federation Meeting and then details were discussed about The WI’s Centenary Celebrations which are taking place in 2015.
We are all looking forward to the outings. There is no meeting in August; the next meeting is on Wednesday the 10th. September at 7.30pm at our usual venue – Litton Village Hall. The Speaker that evening will be Mr. Doug. Bradbury telling us about ‘The Life And Times Of A Farrier’.
We are always really pleased to welcome new members, friends, and visitors to our monthly meetings.
