An opportunity to enjoy some great music from a wide range of performers in great surroundings. Any proceeds will go towards the Church Restoration Fund. We hope to add book readings, art displays and more shortly. There will be an education strand for all ages.
Tickets will go on sale during the last week of May (purchase in person only to allow local people first access) from the bookshop, and then online and by post from June. There will be a “Friends” scheme and season tickets – more information will be available at the Food Festival on 3 May. It is hoped that the Festival will close with a service of Choral Evensong on the Sunday.
Saturday 20th 1930 – Albion choir Albion performs mostly unaccompanied, allowing the purity of the human voice to sound across the centuries. The group is known for a fresh sound and vibrant energy and for warm, wholehearted music-making.
Sunday 21st, 1300 – The Bailey Sisters The Bailey Sisters are Alyson Rainey, Karen Dyson and Shelley Rainey. All with fine voices, with the addition of guitar and fiddle, they offer a wide variety of traditional, self-penned and classical material, ranging from the 1200s to the present day.
Sunday 21st, 1930 – Quercus The trio features the venerable and award winning English singer June Tabor whose dark voice has an uncanny ability to underscore the emotional essence of a ballad; Welsh jazz pianist and composer Huw Warren, and; English saxophonist Iain Ballamy. They are all exceptionally talented.
Tuesday 23rd,1930 – Tideswell Male Voice Choir No introduction needed!
Wednesday 22nd, 1800 – Chetham’s School of Music Students from this renowned international music school will hold a lunchtime workshop for schools and then an early-evening concert for all lovers of music, all to their exceptionally high standards.
Thursday 25th, 1930 – Ladybrook Singers The Ladybrook Singers are a multi award winning ladies choir from Hazel Grove, Stockport. They will be performing a programme of mainly English music including music by Britten, Rutter, Elgar and Andrew Lloyd Webber plus folk songs and few favourites of the choir. There will be an eclectic programme of music to suit all tastes. Their conductor is Alison Bletcher who grew up in Buxton and is no stranger to the music scene in Tideswell.

Friday 26th, 1930 Derby Cathedral Choir The highly regarded Derby Cathedral Choir will perform a concert of well-known choral pieces for the first half, including an organ recital, and after the interval will perform Faure’s Requiem.
Sat 27th, 1930 – Jacqui Dankworth Jacqui Dankworth is one of the most highly regarded vocalists in the UK. Known primarily as a jazz singer, Jacqui also draws on folk, soul and blues influences, as well as her acute sensibility as a songwriter and lyricist. Her voice has been described as “multi-faceted” and “incomparable” by The Times.
