Litton Parish Matters

January is the time of year when councils are required to set the community charge for the forthcoming financial year. At its meeting on the 20th of January the Parish Council decided that it would not increase the charge on its residents in 2014 -15. The Council, having made efficiency savings on administration, is able to set a balanced budget for next year and so has no reason to increase the tax burden on its residents at this time of economic restraint.

You will know that this year is the centenary of the start of the Great War 1914-18. Across the country there is a range of activities being planned which will in different ways recognize the start of the “War to End All Wars”. A group of people in the parish, drawn from the school, churches, Friends of Litton, the parish council and other groups, has come together to plan an appropriate way of remembering those who lived in the parish and were involved in the conflict, died during it or who lived with its legacy. It will be a reflection on both war and peace. The event is planned for early July and there will be many opportunities for everyone including children to be involved.

Further details will be circulated to all households as the planning group develops the arrangements.
