Remembrance Day

Tideswell enjoyed the sunshine for one of the biggest parades in recent years. A moving rendition of Trevor Hall’s 1933 personal memories was read by David Bradwell who was the parade marshall. At the close of the service another Hall, Isla Hall read a beautiful poem. The service itself was as powerful and moving as ever, and a whole host of people need to be thanked for their efforts in making the day so memorable… we will remember them.

I would like to thank everyone who bought a poppy, made a donation or just chatted whilst I was selling them outside the Coop. My box raised £269.46.

The generosity of Tideswell people never ceases to amaze me. A special ‘Merci’ to the French mademoiselle who bought me a coffee on a cold Tidza morning.

It meant a lot to me to be chosen to read a poem at the remembrance service. I was asked because this year I am Chair of the School Council. I felt important and I was determined to do a good job! I was pleased that Mrs Conacher asked me to lay the wreath as well as reading my poem! I was a bit nervous about speaking in front of all those people.

Thank you for the opportunity.

Isla Hall, Chair of School Council
