Tideswell has 328 grids that need cleaning the majority of which are able to be cleared by a large ‘sucking’ vehicle. Any that are blocked with silt need to be dug out. The district council will be cleaning the grids during September.
Any surface water that is not able to enter a drain will run down the main road and cause problems on its way. (Pinfold has had problems).
Tideswell Parish Council are working with DDDC to get the grids cleared. Are you aware of a grid in your area that access to is normally blocked by cars? Please keep the grids accessible during working hours in the month of September until the work has been carried out.
Parish Playground Report: A recent inspection of the three playground areas has highlighted the work that is required to bring them up to the required standard. Work required includes cleaning and treating all existing woodwork, replacing some parts. Unfortunately some of the swings at Townhead and Pinfold will have to be removed as they are unsafe, but will be replaced as soon as funds allow.
Other remedial work will be carried out in and around all playgrounds. Major work is also essential around the slide at Townhead, including landscaping and fencing, and following consultation with the residents a staggered gate is to be placed at the entrance to the play area. The car park surface at Townhead is also to be refurbished, along with tree pruning.
