As the Village Voice goes to press, TCC are on a run of 8 consecutive wins, which has seen them move up into 2nd place in the Yorkshire & Derbyshire 6th Division.
Five of these results have been in friendlies, and of these, two have been against Baslow. The midweek Strollers side managed just 41 in reply to Tideswell’s 101, with Greg Taylor taking 3-5 and Litton’s Ben Rooke scoring 26*; while the newly-reformed Baslow Sunday XI made 110 (Matt Jellis 5-29), a total achieved by Tideswell with 10 overs to spare.
Matt also starred when the Peak Park played at Tideswell midweek. Tideswell resident Pete Nash, playing for the visitors, hit 28* in their 113 (Ben Rooke 5-4), but with 27 needed by Tideswell off the last 5 overs, Matt hit 3 sixes, and Tideswell were home with 20 balls to spare.
The Sunday game against the Sheffield medics side Esoterix was close. Ben Rooke (40) and Dan Shirt (32) helped to post a score of 147, and then Rooke’s 5-75 limited the visitors’ reply to 138-9.
In the midweek game v Loxley side Sheffield Hitters, Ben’s brother Joe Rooke hit 68 off 39 balls, with 7 sixes, to push Tideswell to an impressive 161 off their 20 overs. The Hitters managed 101 in reply.
TCC are at home on 1, 6, 10, 17, 25 and 31 August. A key match is the one on Saturday 17th, when Norton Woodseats 2nd XI are the visitors. Norton are currently 3rd in the Y&D 6th Div.
