Slow Down

I was sad to read Bob Walkden’s ‘slow down’ letter in the last Village Voice. I also enjoyed the attention of Mabel as I walked down to the village – a lovely friendly cat. Our cat was knocked down and killed near by a speeding driver on Manchester Road near Holdsworth. There are 30 mile signs just before Holdsworth, and that speed should be maintained right into the village, but these signs are often disregarded who drive down Manchester Road in excess of 50 miles per hour, and a couple who I suspect are doing at least 60! How long do we have to wait before it is a person, not a cat, who is knocked down and killed?

However, the new national car crushing scheme has been designed to impound and crush cars of speeding offenders, when caught. It’s only a matter of time, so watch out speeding drivers – the cameras are coming, and they’re only coming because you are speeding!
