A newly written play about life in a village is coming to Tideswell on 11th May. Performed by New Perspectives, the East Midlands’ favourite touring theatre company, the play is a humorous and touching look at contemporary village life.
Reverend Stephen Parr is the new vicar in a small rural parish. Facing a dwindling congregation, an uncompromising Church Warden and a lonely widower, pleasing everyone, including his wife Mel, is proving rather difficult. Enter Kevin, an enigmatic stranger who turns up on the church’s doorstep, seeking a place to shelter. Who is this mysterious man? Where has he come from? And where is he going? Kevin’s sudden arrival leaves a lasting impact on the entire community and rocks the delicate foundations of Stephen’s faith. Written by Brendan Murray, Entertaining Angels also examines the role of the Church in rural communities today. The play has grown out of research in villages and will be be a powerful and thought-provoking evening of very entertaining theatre. New Perspectives have visited Tideswell many times over the years and always bring excellent and exciting theatre.
