The temperature was low on the last two walks both in the Eyam area. Fortunately Stoke Ford is a sheltered place for a mid-morning break, however there was no beauty spot for lunch which was spent huddled by a wall. Watching the air ambulance land later was a timely reminder to put out the charity bags due for collection next morning.
In March we welcomed two newcomers, one of whom was perhaps a little overdressed but did look keen and eager to set off. It was sleeting at the start and the scenery was in monochrome. Some hadn’t seen the Roman baths in Stoney Middleton. The steepish climb from there took us to an area where brilliant white was the only colour, snow lying undisturbed in woodland. Seating for lunch was a snow cleared form with a multi – purpose survival bag fitting neatly over it. It was an enjoyable day and four legged Maddie, in diamante studded pink leather collar, had set a good pace. Future walks will include the Roaches and the Three Shires Head.
