Tideswell’s Steve Hawkins added to the village’s sporting prowess last month when his White Water Rafting team became British Champions.
Steve’s career on the water began at Matlock Canoeing Club, but he turned to White Water Rafting two years ago and in 2011 was in the GB Junior Squad at the World Championships in Costa Rica. Winning the British Championships means that Steve and the rest of the team will represent GB at next years World’s. Steve works at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham.
