I was reading this week in the Village Voice that local businesses feel they are being under used. What about a supermarket (eg. Tesco) style website that allows customers to order goods online and have it delivered in a certain time slot? This could be a joint effort between the local businesses – greengrocers, butchers, dairy and bakery. People do sometimes find it easier to do things online so maybe this might be a good idea – people could shop local and have a supermarket – one stop shop experience. I, for one, would be very upset at the loss of the local businesses and really hope that none of them face threat of closure.
