Talking to one of our shopkeepers highlighted to me how much our local shops are struggling. To the point that the future of at least one of shop is at risk, Why – because not enough of us who live in the village, shop in the village.
Just stop for a moment and consider Tideswell without our village shops. Do you, like me, think the loss of our shops would be the loss of a vital part of our community?
In my experience our shops sell great produce, often locally sourced or made. If there is a particular item you want they will try and get it for you.
Often our shops are competitively priced compared to the supermarkets. Particularly if you think about the cost of fuel getting to and from the supermarket.
When I worked full time I struggled to get to our village shops when they were open. I didn’t realise that if you phone Peaches (01298 872721) or call in with an order they will deliver to your door when you get home – how good is that!
So please if you don’t want to risk losing our shops – use them!
