Great Hucklow School is a small, rural primary set in a beautiful woodland location. We provide high-quality education and fantastic opportunities for learning. Being a small school enables us to foster close relationships with the children and their families. Our school has a family atmosphere where older children help those who are younger. We have close links with parents and an active, friendly PTA.
We have a creative and engaging curriculum. Children are encouraged to participate in musical activities, sporting festivals and competitions. All children in school benefit from year-round Forest Schools sessions with our qualified Forest School leaders. These sessions boost children’s self-esteem, confidence and resilience as well as developing their independence and teamwork skills.
Pupils’ academic performance is very strong and often well above the national average. The children make excellent progress from their varied starting points because they are treated as individuals and their needs are met.
We are a learning community, always trying to find the most effective teaching methods. We always focus on resilience (it’s ok to make mistakes) and a growth mindset (a belief that all children can improve through their own efforts).
