Remarks

Overall a fairly average month though the amount of snow and the frost duration
were a fair bit below average. Although the sunshine total was a little above
average the number of sunless day was the highest I have recorded in any
January. The most significant event of the month was the brief but intense
snowstorm between 0600 and 0800 on the 13th. About 13 cm of powder snow fell
with considerable drifting. Although the general snow cover lasted less than 2
days, remnants of drifts from this event survived just outside the village until at least the 30th.
