As part of its harvest celebrations, Tideswell Parish has donated money to a tiny church in a shanty town in Chiclayo, Peru. The area is described as ‘desolate and soulless’, and has so much violent crime that many taxi drivers refuse to go there. The small church community is aiming to provide a simple building which will act as a clinic, a school and a church, to serve the people of the area.
Money was also raised at the Harvest Supper to support the work of the Derby Agricultural Chaplain, who works with the local farming community. And a mountain of dried food was sent along to Buxton’s Food Bank, much of which was donated by our local schoolchildren.
