Due to severe frost last month we opted for a short local walk. Even though a route is familiar the experience of the day is always different. We walked on field paths to Millers Dale where the river was fast flowing. The coffee stop on the Monsal Trail was all the more enjoyable for the surprise piece of Christmas cake made by one of our group.
Later we witnessed the determined efforts of a raven to rid a buzzard from the former’s territory. Snowdrops were in bloom in a cottage garden at Litton Mill while the daffodils waited patiently.
Lunch was a brief affair as we were quickly very cold but on the move again we soon warmed up.
I only wish that I could take credit for the delicious cake!
