Cressbrook Film Club

Friday 10th January 2014 ARGO (cert 15) Oscar 2013 Best picture and BAFTA Best Film.

Based on real events, this dramatic political thriller chronicles the life-or-death covert operation in 1979 to rescue six Americans in Tehran which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis, focusing on the little-known role that together, the CIA and Hollywood played. Information that was not declassified until 1997. With Ben Afflek – who also directed this film – Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, Alan Arkin and Donovan Tate. An historically authentic, edge of the seat thriller that works brilliantly as a great Hollywood escape film.
