As summers go, 2013 will probably be remembered as a good one. Children will look back in years to come and say, ‘Aye they were always great when I were a lad/lass’. We’ve had scorching weather, a healthy dose of rain (too healthy in places) and good bright stuff to please the soul.

But now there’s autumn in the air and the dairy dates reflect this. September is a busy month in Tideswell from cultural evenings of opera and films, to walks, and coffee mornings.

One for the diary (just in October I know) is the Wakes AGM. They’ll have lots to tell us I now from this year but I know they’re also planning for an even bigger and better Wakes 2014. This will be one AGM worth attending.

So time to dust down the log burner and gather in the logs. Here’s hoping for an Indian end to the summer.
